Cannabis or cannabis sativa is a fiber-producing plant, but is better known as a psychotropic drug, because of the content of tetrahydrokanabinol (THC). THC can make the wearer experience euphoria in the form of prolonged pleasure, without cause.

New research found chronic blood clotting disorders as well.

Common Clotting Disorders

Clotting disorder is closed related with malfunction of genes in human. This disorder can be faound in 3 type.

  • Hemophilia, there is two types of hemophilia. This disease show up with letter A and B. Two of them are primarily genetic in origin and occur when there is a lack of clotting factors in the patient’s blood. Hemophilia is rare case, but can cause severe bleeding and bruising.
  • Factor bleeding problems cause issues with blood clotting and can be caused by a number of things. They are classified by Roman numerals: II, V, XII, etc.
  • Von Willebrand’s disease is a genetic condition that is inherited from the parent. It is defined as a lack of the Von Willebrand factor in the blood, which is necessary for clotting.

Marijuana has nonpsychoactive component known as cannabidiol or CBD. This nonpsychoactive used in the treatment of mental and physical illnesses, and even neurological illnesses like Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s. CBD may also be helpful in the treatment of autoimmune disorders.

The fight against medical marijuana isn’t due to the fact that this plant offers other treatment options for patients, especially those that don’t respond to traditional treatment. It’s because the drug itself is still considered Schedule 1 by the federal government. This puts it in the same category as dangerous illegal drugs like heroin and cocaine. This, paired with the fact that all the marijuana used in medical research is sourced from a single grower, means the research is limited at best. It hasn’t stopped researchers from making new discoveries, but it does limit what they can find.

especially in 2007 there is research proof that extract of marijuana like THC, CBD, and CBN, had an anticoagulant effect.

The in vitro effect of the cannabis extract on thrombin activity produced an IC50 value of 9.89 mg/ml, compared to THC at 1.79 mg/ml. It was also found that the extract, THC and CBN showed considerable inhibition of thrombin-induced clot formation in vitro with IC50 values of 600, 87 and 83 microg/ml for the extract, THC and CBN respectively. In an in vivo model used to determine clotting times of lean and obese rats treated with a cannabis extract, 50% clotting times were found to be 1.5 and 2 fold greater than their respective control groups, supporting the results obtained in the in vitro model. The study thus shows that Cannabis sativa and the cannabinoids, THC and CBN, display anticoagulant activity and may be useful in the treatment of diseases such as type 2 diabetes in which a hypercoagulable state exists.
