Singapore Flu, is an infectious infection caused by a virus. Diseases that commonly affect these children can also occur in adults. Singaporean flu sufferers usually experience runny bumps and thrush in the mouth, hands and feet. Sometimes these injuries also appear on the elbows, buttocks, knees, and groin.

Singapore Flu is also known as Hand-Foot-and-Mouth Disease. This condition is generally caused by a group of viruses called enteroviruses. Singapore in Picornaviridae family (Pico-spanish:small), Genus Enterovirus (non Polio).

What is Enteroviruses

Enteroviruses genus of positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses. This virus commonly associated with several human and mammalian diseases. Enteroviruses are named by their transmission-route through the intestine (enteric meaning intestinal). Enteroviruses one of viruses in Serotype category. Virus that attack imune system in your body.

How you get Infected

This disease is very contagious and often occurs in the summer. KTM is a common disease that affects children aged 2 weeks to 5 years (sometimes up to 10 years). Adults are generally immune to enteroviruses. Transmission through direct contact from person to person is through droplets, saliva, feces, fluid from vesicles or excreta. Transmission of indirect contact through items contaminated by the secretion. There are no vactors but there are carriers like flies and cockroaches. This KTM disease has specific immunity, but the child can get KTM again by another strain of enterovirus strain. The incubation period is around 2-5 days. While for the time exposed to illness 3-7 days.

Sign and symptoms Singapore Flu

At first the fever is not 2-3 days high, followed by neck pain (pharingitis), no appetite, runny nose, rash on the mouth, hands and feet, and maybe in the diaper. Symptoms like flu in general are not deadly. Vesicles arise which then break, there are 3-10 ulcus in the mouth such as canker sores which are painful so it is difficult to swallow. Rash / rash or vesicle (small, flat blisters / blisters), non-itchy papulovesicles on the hands and feet. If there is vomiting, diarrhea or dehydration and weakness or other complications, the patient must be treated.

Certain types of viruses can be more severe symptoms:

  • High fever is more than 38 C for 2 days.
  • There are flu symptoms, shortness of breath, convulsions, ulcers, thrush in the oral cavity, tongue, and esophagus.

If symptoms occur like this, please bring them to the nearest hospital as soon as possible for intensive care because they can cause death. The recommended template is until the blisters dry.
